'It wasn't supposed to be like this', Aniya thought.
Her pack never deliberately harmed anyone so why was it that their land was being overrun by rogue wolves. Aniya heart raced as she took a defensive stance in front of the pups.
She glared at the snarling brown wolf that stood on all fours before her. There was no way in hell she'd allowed the children to get hurt even if it meant sacrificing herself to get them to safety.
"They are just children. Let them go." She begged arms spread wide as the crying pups huddled behind her for protection. The wolf growled in response taking a step forward resulting in her retreating.
They were surrounded by rogue wolves but if she could get them to the shed that was a couple of paces behind her all would be well.
He gave her a wolfish smirk before lunging towards her. Her eyes darted to the pups signalling for them to run.
"Down" A voice roared sending chills down her spine as he emerged from the shadows. The wolf that lunged for her landed quickly on the ground head bowed in submission along with his other counterparts.
She stared at the man eyes blazing with hatred and anger as she realized who stood before her.
