Everything is now over and everything will be back to normal. That should go for all who suffered the long time of war and pain, wins and losses, gains and loses. But Eiji is an exception. It's now time to return to his homeland, Japan. He feels a void in his heart as he boards the plane and he knows very well what can fill that void. It's that person he shared all his pains with.
