"Answer me, slave!" The head maid yelled at me. I felt the change in the air as easily as I could feel the smooth feel of the floor beneath my knees.

I didn't have to look up to know that she had raised her hand, the soft sound of her hand cutting the air alerted me what she was planning to do, I heard the soft sounds the air particles made as they parted way for her hand that was on a mission to find the side of my face. I made no move to dodge her slap and HE made no move to stop her.

Her hand came down on my face, the sound creating a resounding echo in the already silent kitchen. All servants and slaves waited with baited breaths for me to cry, scream, hell even at least hiss in pain as the flesh of her palm met my cheek. Yet the only indication that would have let anyone know I'd been slapped was my slightly turned face.

"You dare not flinch??!" She screeched at the top of her lungs. She raised her hand again ready to deliver another blow, that's when HE decided to step in and interrupt.

"If I may, mistress?" His voice came out in a hushed tone. She was a servant and he was a slave trader, one would think that it is she who should be wary of him, but she was a dragon and he was a mere lycan. If he angered her any further it may be the end of his career as a slave trader, and as a living being. Judging from the change in air currents I'd assume that she nodded her head for him to continue.

"She is mute, missus." The audience that we had attracted hissed in remorse as her head whipped towards him in fury.
