Alayna Harlow would be a spinster. It was all decided by the fates, she thought. She wasn't a beauty or gifted in any sort of art. She was just utterly plain when compared to her sisters. Of course, even plain girls could marry if their standards weren't awfully high. However, Alayna had one more obstacle in the way of a marriage proposal; Alayna Harlow was blind and resigned to her fate. Until she met Lucas Whitmore, Duke of Altbridge.

Lucas Whitmore could have his pick of the pack, but he preferred bachelorhood. Sure, he flirted and danced, never more than was socially acceptable. He had seen weaker lads fall prey to a woman's wiles and get tricked into marriage, but never Whitmore. When he met Alayna Harlow, he had been planning to flirt with her sister until she entrapped him with her voice. After hearing the soft velvet he claimed fell from between her lips, he saw nothing but her. It didn't take him long to realize she saw nothing.

But Clara Harlow, Alayna's older, precocious sister, has her heart and her eyes set on Lucas Whitmore and she plans to marry him before the year is up and she's not going to let her younger, broken sister take away her dream husband because of some silly thing like love.
