Regulus felt torn in half as he looked at the face illuminated by a wand a good few meters away from him on the quidditch pitch under the gleaming stars. Those all-knowing hazel eyes glimmered as they settled on Regulus, and the younger knew he had to run away now before it was too late. What he didn't know was that it was already too late.

basically i got tired of reading many jegulus fics that are SO GOOD BUT ALWAYS CANON COMPLIANT AND I'VE SHED TOO MANY TEARS READING POOR REGGIE GET THE MARK AND THEN DIE so I've decided to write my own (and ignore all the other fics that are waiting for me to update them) with a happy ending but with LOTS of angst still. Uh just remember jegulus will get a happy ending :)

His chest felt like it was being ripped out, his throat being scratched violently by the attack of petals climbing up. His coughing got louder and more violent before finally a handful of sunflowers fell into Regulus' hand. James stared down at him, an unknown expression on his face but Regulus didn't have time to study him. He tried to hide the petals but he knew he was to late. James had already seen them, and he could see the obvious splatter of blood on his chin. "What the fuck just happened? Are those sunflowers?" James once again tried to reach out to him, going for his hands, wanting to get a closer look, but Regulus snatched his hands away and took a few more steps back.
