Asari Kazue is a shinobi who doesn't know pain.

It's not that she's had a soft life- no shinobi does- she's simply physically incapable of feeling it. From the day she was old enough to understand, her family has been teaching her what can hurt her the same way a normal child is taught to read and write. Her cousin, Noriaki, has watched over her the entire time, becoming the protector her blind-brother never could.

As she and her teammates are entered in one of the hardest tests of their lives, however, and she meets a person who seems to be an anchor in her unpredictable world, one thing becomes frighteningly clear.

Just because one can’t feel pain doesn’t mean they can’t be hurt.
