Dream SMP Mutant AU

After a worldwide nuclear event, most of Earth's population dies. The majority of those remaining are left with burns or scars, but not much else. Some, however, become infected with a mutagen. They gain inhuman qualities and are marked physically to show the change.

People take stances on the Mutants: some still treat them as people; some exile them; the Radicals, however, perform experiments on them, the reason for which is unknown.

Most Mutants have either gone into hiding, living in fear or anger of what the Radicals are doing, or built themselves up in societies where they're accepted. Some use their new abilities for their own gain, some have yet to master their powers and fight for control, and some hide their true selves, presenting as fully human.

Mac, a Mutant teenager, must overcome the challenges that come with avoiding the Radicals and anyone who would try to use her powers for ill, all while trying to figure out how to control her abilities herself.

DISCLAIMERS: This is an OC POV story set in an alternate universe to the Dream SMP with a lot of the same characters. These character portrayals are loosely based on the CHARACTERS played on the DSMP, not based on the CCs themselves. Since this is an AU, it goes without saying that there are things about the lore that will not be consistent with the actual canon of the DSMP roleplay narrative.

The majority of the characters in this story do not belong to me (obviously, just felt like I needed to say that). The POV character IS of my own creation.

All that aside, this story is just for fun! I had a lot of fun writing it, so if you take the time to read, I would appreciate it! Not sure whether I'm going to write it as a linear story or if I'll just write scenes here and there however I feel. Either way, I'm excited to share this story with you :^)
