Socially awkward Ethan Montgomery never expected his freshman year of college to be easy, but he has to admit that even by his low expectations things are getting quite out of hand.
Because that’s the way things tend to go when you’re juggling newfound magical powers that seem to have a mind of their own. Accidentally exploding coffee cups, Thanksgiving Day turkeys, lightbulbs, and his disgruntled new roommate Arthur’s best pair of running shoes is only the beginning. Throw girls, wild college parties, gay classmates, and a mysterious organization called The Institution into the mix, and this year is shaping up to be one that Ethan will never forget.
Ethan’s life has changed forever… for better or for worse. He soon learns that magic always comes with a price- a price that, in the end, may be too unbearable to pay.
*This story is rated PG-13 for college-themed situations, including underage drinking and language.
Charlie Hill was a perfectly normal sixteen year old boy - if you consider being in the closet and dealing with crippling social anxiety 'normal' - until he managed to stop a bullet with his bare hands. Confused and afraid, Charlie struggles to gain control of his newfound abilities and, as a result, he is sent to Merlinian Preparatory School - the leading institution for the tuition of young sorcerers.
Now, instead of learning Math and English, Charlie has to learn to control his unruly magic, all the while dealing with students who think he doesn't belong there and trying to hide his unwanted feelings for a particularly attractive fellow sorcerer that threaten to make him even more of an outcast than he already is.
Magic, as it turns out, isn't as much fun as it seems.
