After her mother dies, Maeve flees her home and finds herself back in Mystic Falls, her mother's birthplace. She is oblivious to the secrets that lie within the town and soon starts to discover the truth about her family and herself.
While poking around the town, she finds herself bumping into the same man repeatedly, a man that offers her his help with nothing in return. Maeve is hesitant to accept his help and finds herself irritated at the man's witty humor and lack of staying away, but with his help, she soon starts to find comfort in his presence.
