16-year-old Jacklyn's previously basic life turns upside down when she one morning wakes up as a vampire, finding out she has to save the world from a bunch of uncoordinated magic hunters, with the help of a cliché hot secretive boy, an arrogant non-binary wolf, and her morally grey best friend. Their heroic journey leads them to a secret island with fantastic animals and a tax fraud-committing lumberjack, and soon they realise that their story isn't as easy-going as it sounds at first.

Having been born with eyes that are supposed to come with a very powerful and dangerous curse, Dakini must keep her eyes hidden from the rest of the school to avoid discrimination, possible fear and isolation, as well as the government's threat to permanently "remove" any Black Eyed werewolves.
