Jaivonn Ma'ruvan is a Donrular, a race spawned from the joining between Men and Lynathar. The Donrular have long dwelt in seclusion behind The Wall, and Jaivonn wants nothing more than to join the Wall's Guard and protect his home; but Jaivonn is forced to abandon his post when his good friend, Eragost, goes missing. Paired with his life-long companion Aruinel, Jaivonn goes outside the confines of The Wall, only to find that a world of adventures, dangers, and all sorts of oddities in between, has been waiting for him.
Meanwhile, in the crumbling kingdom of Hurladror, Haslof Feronth The Lord of Bralduin, discovers a plot to steal the throne. Acting too late to protect his king, Haslof and the other loyalists are thrown into exile by the new figure head. With a will that cannot be matched, Haslof forms a rebellion, and leads his Holdfast against the false king.

Being the middle sibling, Aearon knew her life would be full of struggles; she would not inherit the throne nor would she allow herself to be paraded around for others to admire. While carrying out her duty, Aearon found herself at the mercy of the cold Prince of Mirkwood and King Thranduil himself. Finding herself locked in Thranduil's dungeon, the she-elf soon finds herself becoming friends with the most unlikely of creatures who steer her life on to a whole new path. Accompanying the group of dwarves to their home, Aearon finds herself battling both foe and feeling as she struggles to survive the dangers of middle earth.
