Kailonna Spade or Kal as she prefers is the youngest of her 4 siblings. She feels invisible for the first 19 years of her life, she feels powerless and lost, in a world that seems to never have enough space for her. Kal never seems to understand why she feels trapped inside herself, always feeling disconnected from her peers, including herself.
It is the summer before her sophomore year of college, she decides to go to an art program to help build her art portfolio. Only she didn't plan for her summer to go the way it did.
An incident occurs and turns her whole world upside down, corrupting the once pretty lies she told herself turning her life into one that consists of endless suffocating, deception, and deceit. This summer was to try to find her own place in the world and just as she can almost feel herself start to bloom in the palm of her hand someone comes along, plucking every single petal off till the flower is left bare.
Will her brothers discover what Kal was forced to endure for weeks?
Is Kal going to open up about what happened that horrifying, traumatic night of her life or will she continue to spin webs of lies while attempting to appear normal?
She may be successful in deceiving everyone in town, but little did she know, someone can see past the fortress she has built around herself.
She's not the only one covering up secrets. Kal will figure out that people are just as good at putting on an act to make everything seem completely ordinary when in reality they are hiding behind their own web of lies that they themselves can no longer identify what is true and what is false, as she is.
Chaos, lies, sorrow, love, lust, and plenty of secrets await to be revealed.

I have always been the invisible one. No one knows I am there. I try to fit in with everyone, but the students end up ignoring me. When I speak, no words escape my mouth. I have always known that there was another part of me, that wants to shine, but is too scared to show her face. It is as if we have been hiding behind the same mask and no one sees us. We put on a different mask to try to be like everyone else, but we're really covering up our true personality. As if I am a nerd, that everyone can just walk all over. However, I am not that type of person. It is as if, the only way you would be able to get attention, is if you become a "bad boy," or you wear clothes that show too much skin. I am not like that; I do not know how to act "bad". I have always been a good girl and I do not know how to dress like that. I mean I do have some type of fashion sense. When I say I'm a good girl I mean that I am one of those good girls who gets what she want most of the time, but doesn't talk to her parents about her social life, or when she gets a new boyfriend. I keep to myself and they keep to themselves. I mean they still talk to me when they think I need something, and they respect my privacy. I just do not know what to do with my life anymore. It was easy enough when the handsome stranger introduced himself to me as Kade. It has been a while since I have had a hot one-night stand, and he reminds me how fun it can be. There are no questions, expectations or reasons to see one another again. What I don't expect is our night together to come around and bite me in the ass. When I arrive at a family dinner with my parents and two older sisters to celebrate my return home to Scotland, he is sitting right there with them.
