Scary stories of a place called a city are whispered throughout the tribes of the forest. Rumours of great grey forts with monstrous towers, sprawling walls... a place crawling with the monsters everyone so fears.
 Humans.

---

Despite a slightly concerning size difference, Lyn and Lucius are the best of friends that share one common goal: find Lyn's family. A sudden twist in their lives thrusts the two of them into the sprawl of the human city, and achieving that goal suddenly seems impossible.
When Lyn and Lucius cross paths with two strange girls, their priorities are tested. These strangers seem to be able to answer Lyn's biggest question: where does she come from? But a pressing problem must be resolved before they can show her.

Who is Aspen, and why are these people so desperate to find him?

This is the continuation to my other story called The Winged. It isn't a direct continuation, but I would recommend reading the other story first to avoid confusion.
If you can suffer through it, you can find it on Search or by looking on my account :)

Apologies for the incredible time it took me to write this crap. Hopefully you enjoy 🥲

! NO LONGER WRITING THIS VERSION OF THE STORY - PLEASE GO TO MY PROFILE AND SEE MY BOOK 'The Monster's Stratagem' FOR THE 2.0 VERSION ! * * * Highest Ranking: #8 in Adventure 19/11/17 Added to Wattpad's official adventure page reading list 'Fantastical Adventures' 05/12/17 * * * In the distant future of 3274, monsters rule the Earth. No one knows why or how they came onto the blue planet but that doesn't really matter anymore. One by one the humans started to disappear and were replaced by monsters until all that was left of them were their cities and knowledge. Legend has it that human survivors still exist and are living in the depths of a forest, right on the doorstep of the capital monster kingdom, Zyire. Protected and concealed by a magical border that burns monsters if they attempt to enter, the humans wait patiently for the right opportunity to strike and take back what once was theirs. 18 year-old human survivor Dawn lives within the borders of the forest, or as the humans call it, the Base. In the Base, the humans are separated into three groups; the Service, the Watchers and the Venturers. It is the Service's job to cook, what little food they have, and to heal the injured and sick. It is the Watcher's job to hide in the trees and scan the clearing, that lies before the forest's border, for monsters on the Venture days. It is the Venturers job to leave the forest borders on Venture days, and run into desolate cities to steal food, bedding and supplies that they need to survive. There is only one rule; never get caught. Venturer Dawn finds herself in a dangerous situation when she breaks the one rule. Dawn is caught by a monster, and not just any monster, but a monster who works as a Protector for their kind. Dawn soon learns that there are more to monsters than meets the eye. © 2016 by Heather Darte

Avalon Isn't What It Used To Be

40 parts Complete Mature

My mother says my endless curiosity and my need to venture is a curse. Though, I know she only says that because I'm just like my father; who went out to curb his appetite for new experiences and never came home. Do I feel abandoned? No. How could I? Not when I fully understand the craving... Fae almost never leave Avalon. It's rare, and normally Fae that leave Avalon are forced into exile. Hardly ever do they leave voluntarily. My mother hates to see me leave, and a part of me is ashamed to do so, seeing as I'm basically abandoning her like my father. But she has my baby brother, Almned, who isn't even 500 yet. And I'm one penalty away from serving time in the Avalonian Guardhouse. Which is ridiculous, considering I have only broken a few rules. Avalon used to be a vast place of freedom, a sanctuary for persecuted Fae, the Homeland where everyone had a voice. Well... Avalon is not what it used to be... Maybe the Otherworld will be big enough to spread my wings. *** What happens when a Fae leaves Avalon and befriends a Human? Yes, my book is rated mature. Though, it really isn't THAT bad. I really tried to keep it clean. Also, this is a part 1. Part 2 will come eventually.
