After a heartbreaking scenario, Rue has finally had enough of her father erratic behaviours. Heartbroken and beaten, she moves back to her home town of Haling Cove in another state to live with her mother. Upon arriving, Rue vows to herself that the last seven months of high school will be spent on her own. This means no best friends and of course no relationships because they both suck and will leave her heartbroken yet again

But what happens when Rue starts at Northview High and begins to feel some unwanted feelings again and especially after everything that has happened she needs time for her scars to heal. Confusion arises as she begins to receive a continuous gift of her favourite flower from an unknown secret admirer. Will Rue give into the people wanting to be her friends as they force friendship upon her? Or will she stay true to her word and finish the year angry and alone.
