Years ago, in the area that is now Germany, was a small kingdom nestled in the mountains next to the sea. Its rulers, King Dietrich and Queen Clara were well loved by the people of the kingdom along with their two children, Princess Luana and Prince Alfons. Princess Luana was a kind but restless and excitable girl. Her favorite pastime was riding her horse on the mountain trails. Although submissive, Luana still got herself into many scraps. When a neighboring kingdom makes an invasion Alfons is captured and the kingdom is surrounded. Luana, with her trusty friend, Berti, a funny elf with an innocent look on life, are in the mountains when the attack happens. Luana knows she must do something but fear eats at her heart. An elderly shepherdess takes Luana in for the night and advises her in what she should do in finding "true courage". Although Luana doesn't quite understand she attempts to follow the woman's advice. It's when she is in the enemy lines, trying to come to her brother's aid that she finds what "true courage" really is.
