Not every soulmate is destined for romance. There are familial soulmates, often apparent in the matching birthmarks of twins, and platonic soulmates, those who are meant to share their lives with one another, but lack the romantic feelings that couples have.
Darryl Noveschosch never expected to get a soulmark. Even before he turned eighteen, which felt like ages ago, he didn't think it would fit his lifestyle. He realized early on that he was different - for a while, he thought that maybe he was broken. He was twenty when he discovered the terms aromantic and asexual, and twenty-three when what felt like a feather brushing gently against his arm caught his attention.
But he didn't feel butterflies.
He didn't feel anything romantic.
He didn't feel as though he was one step closer to meeting the love of his life.

Everyone is born with a soulmate mark, placed somewhere random on your body. Some easy to cover, some hard. Some soulmate marks are pairs, both having a beautiful tattoo, matching perfectly. Some soulmate marks are matches, like pencil and paper, sun and moon.At first contact of skin to skin, the marks with burn, and fill with colour. Poly bonds weren't common, but they aren't rare. It used to be common, about a 50% chance, but most poly bonds didn't work, ending up in one of the soulmates rejected, and alone, mark slowly becoming dark. The Boy with the Broken Mark
When you meet your soulmate, a matching mark appears on your wrist. When your soulmate dies, it scars over. If you find a new soulmate, you get a new mark. Butters thought this to be lies. His mark keeps scarring over but being the same in the morning. It's not like he doesn't try to find the cause of this, but he's just given up. He's broken, he has no soulmate, or his soulmate just keeps dying and raising from the dead, but that would just be silly. Being a private individual, he usually hid his emotions and needed a way to stop. Crying himself to sleep was not helping at all, so he resorted to his good friend Zak. Zak Ahmed was also known as "Skeppy" online. Darryl was slowly starting to go insane after he started feeling more than "friendly" feelings towards skeppy, so he resorted to his offline friends. After a few months, one of his distant cousins, Jackson, shared to him a heartbreaking story about a girl now in foster care after being saved from an abusive household. This caught darryls attention because this girl was a distant relative of himself. A crazy idea came to his mind, the idea possibly taking that girl in, becoming a father. Now, we have to see how that will playout, fatherhood, finding a new relationship with his best friend, a whole new chapter of his life, to see how he matures, what could go wrong? You know what, nothing at all will go wrong.
