"the rose you gave me. it represents the passion between two lovers, yes?" albedo questioned, turning to kaeya to watch him hesitantly nod.
"it appears that my experiment has failed, then".

albedo continued to watch him, beautiful cyan eyes watching as his once-hopeful smile dropped into slight disbelief.
"oh, so you were not aware? let me explain. i decided to conduct an experiment a few days ago, but i needed a test subject, so to speak. i saw you and asked you out. our evening together was not boring or uneventful, it was actually quite enjoyable. but i failed to feel that spark that others described when they were with their lovers." albedo explained.
