The Compass of Nine, the relic for which Lulu made a deal with the ancient witch, Virmira Tanadall, is finally calibrated. It is time for Lulu to open the Garden of Starlight and find her long lost father. Which, naturally, means it is time for things to go horribly wrong. But when Lulu returns home, she finds it besieged by soldiers sent by Queen Eivør, another contender to the throne of Valdornne. She has sent a dark gift to the family home: the bloodied brooch given to Ori the day she left home. Lulu and Idelle must set their own quest aside to aid their Uncle Baloren, who leaves for the tattered homeland of the very empire he once destroyed. Their search for Ori will lead them deep into the Shadowlands, home to the Umbra, the King of Bones' loyal legion of monsters, where they will find themselves in the middle of a war for a mysterious place known only as the Sanctuary.

In a war of her own, Ori has spent the last four years helping to fight for the throne of Namera. Her conflict is nearly finished when word reaches her of an old evil about to wake in the Howling Abyss. The Colossus, an ancient adversary who emerges once every thirteen years, is waking and will bring untold devastation to Velara if he isn't stopped. Their only reprieve comes in the form of a woman inside the Abyss, whose powerful voice has momentarily lulled the Colossus into slumber. Her brother comes to petition her aid and will lead Ori and others deep into the heart of the Abyss, where Ori will learn more of the worlds that came before and the powerful savior of The Broken Song. Ori's power will be pushed to its limits as she fights alongside old friends and learns to trust new faces such as the mysterious healer named Zenn'a, whose past may just consume them all, and the Creator Himself, who wishes to prove, once and for all, that He can be trusted.

The giant beneath the mountain has awakened after three centuries' slumber and devours some of my fathers' best men every morning. He will continue taking lives, one for every giant our ancient ruler killed to steal his land. But I know this ice giant, this jötunn, as Fell Hallvarðr. He came to me as a regular boy in dreams. He rumbles towards the citadel, tall as five men stacked shoulder on shoulder, I hold out a hand. "Fell Hallvarðr," I call out, ignoring the screams of horror from the warriors around me, "I place you under my royal protection, as the old ways of Cloelia Regina called upon. None of my people shall harm you so long as I live." The people cry out against me, but Fell falls to one knee, dropping me gently to the earth. "Then you shall live, little human-traitor." He replies, "in return for what?" "I shall become queen. And you shall fight for me." * Queen Cassia is a royal embarrassment. People snicker at her, knowing her lungs are too weak to draw breath, much less fight. Her parents fear she will not have the strength to undergo the ceremony to become queen, and that the royal line will have to be passed to an outsider. But all this is disrupted when the giant beneath the ice mountain, thought to be a myth, awakens and attack their city of Ymir. The rest of the cities along the Borealis are in rebellion against the main kingdom of Idriola, and Cassia aims to earn her birthright by uniting them all. * Prequel to "Legends of Rahasia Series" (Priestess for the Blind God, Princess for the Witch Doctor, Pirate for the Dead Goddess). This is the tale of how Cassia became Cassia Boadicea Regina of Idriola, the ruler of blood and ice. The fearsome matriarch of the North & conqueror-queen. Beneath the Sunless Sky by NotJuliaChild
60 parts Complete
The fate of Kiverryn behind them, Lulu, Idelle, and Ori embark on new adventures as their paths diverge and force them beyond the worlds of Ishara. Though their surroundings are new, their enemies are not, each new step leading them further down a path that, more and more, seems to be guided by an unseen power. Ori, abducted by a mysterious stranger to a world unknown, finds herself once again in the role of a savior, struggling to save the lives of those around her from the very person who dragged her across the realms. His ambitions are nothing short of calamitous: to become the ancient, villainous figure from The Broken Song, the White Wolf, in order to fight the Savior as the sacred text says will happen in the Final Days. To become such, he will have to rip open the Grave, drawing the ancient enemy from beyond the known, and, in the process, threatens to consume the world. Ori's race to stop this zealot will lead her through not only this new world, but through the Grave as well, tempting her down a path of secrets long lost to the passage of time. Lulu and Idelle, returning to their mission of attuning the Compass, are soon waylaid once more when Idelle has a vision of her long dead aunt, a woman who was said to possess a great power before the Fall of Valdornne. Her aunt tells her of an ancient being held captive in the Grave by the King of Bones and begs her to free him from his prison. Though Idelle has no knowledge of how to navigate the Grave, she feels compelled to honor the request of family and convinces Lulu to embark on this new quest with her to an unknown world, Velara. What they find leads them further into the King of Bones' path, an action that could not only endanger their own lives, but others as well for, as Lulu says, a man who calls himself the King of Bones isn't a man you can trust to follow the rules. Return to the worlds of Ishara and beyond in Book Two of The Broken Song Series. Updates shall be every Friday at 5:00 pm PST.
