The Compass of Nine, the relic for which Lulu made a deal with the ancient witch, Virmira Tanadall, is finally calibrated. It is time for Lulu to open the Garden of Starlight and find her long lost father. Which, naturally, means it is time for things to go horribly wrong. But when Lulu returns home, she finds it besieged by soldiers sent by Queen Eivør, another contender to the throne of Valdornne. She has sent a dark gift to the family home: the bloodied brooch given to Ori the day she left home. Lulu and Idelle must set their own quest aside to aid their Uncle Baloren, who leaves for the tattered homeland of the very empire he once destroyed. Their search for Ori will lead them deep into the Shadowlands, home to the Umbra, the King of Bones' loyal legion of monsters, where they will find themselves in the middle of a war for a mysterious place known only as the Sanctuary. In a war of her own, Ori has spent the last four years helping to fight for the throne of Namera. Her conflict is nearly finished when word reaches her of an old evil about to wake in the Howling Abyss. The Colossus, an ancient adversary who emerges once every thirteen years, is waking and will bring untold devastation to Velara if he isn't stopped. Their only reprieve comes in the form of a woman inside the Abyss, whose powerful voice has momentarily lulled the Colossus into slumber. Her brother comes to petition her aid and will lead Ori and others deep into the heart of the Abyss, where Ori will learn more of the worlds that came before and the powerful savior of The Broken Song. Ori's power will be pushed to its limits as she fights alongside old friends and learns to trust new faces such as the mysterious healer named Zenn'a, whose past may just consume them all, and the Creator Himself, who wishes to prove, once and for all, that He can be trusted. Return to the worlds of Ishara and beyond in Book Three of The Broken Song series, updated weekly on Fridays at 5:00 pm PST.

the Aeon Below Deep beneath the frozen ribs of the mountain lies the Cave of the Dead, where light dies and the air itself hums with mourning. Those who enter rarely return sane...if they return at all. Desperate to escape the relatives bleeding her dry, Dahlia joins an expedition into its depths, hoping to earn enough money to buy her freedom. Instead, she reaches the cave's final chamber: a vast golden cathedral carved for forgotten gods, where a corpse stands vigil before a black monolith that thinks. He calls himself Caelus. Once a god, now fallen, Caelus has spent centuries bound as the barrier between the living world and the underworld. When Dahlia accidentally touches the Black Salt Stone that anchors him to his prison, she forges a tether between their minds. Now his voice follows her everywhere...ancient, mocking, impossible to silence. For the first time in hundreds of years, Caelus is no longer alone. For the first time in Dahlia's life, someone listens. But Caelus's interest in her isn't kindness. To awaken the body preserved beneath the mountain and break free of his prison, he must consume the soul of the woman bound to him. Dahlia should be nothing more than a means to an end. Yet her stubborn humor, relentless greed, and refusal to yield begin to unravel something within him...something dangerously close to humanity. As the dead whisper through the labyrinth below and ancient truths claw their way to the surface, Dahlia faces an impossible choice: trust the god destined to devour her, or destroy the only being who has ever truly understood her. After all, the most dangerous thing in the Cave of the Dead isn't what waits in the darkness. It's the voice that knows exactly how to reach her heart. ~~~🦋 Early draft, being revised for publication elsewhere.
