"Mary," I trailed off.
She rolled her eyes, focusing on Duncan, who had stopped a few feet away. "Whatever. Losers never win anyway."
My jaw clenched as she bumped her shoulder into mine and walked over to her friends. What has happened to us? This isn't Mary. How had we fallen so far?
I let my shoulders slump as Duncan moved so he was next to me. He gave me a reassuring smile that did nothing for the ache in my heart.
I couldn't help but stare after her as she disappeared around the corner.
If only she knew.
