Burning

The wind sweeps around my battered and broken body, and the scattered leaves dance at my weary feet. Giving in, I lean back on the tree and fall down into a pit of cold and empty darkness-the once misleading and sly voices have ceased. The ground has finally swallowed me up. My resistance is wasted; my life is fading into a gloomy eternity of loneliness.

Hana Fellows is almost fourteen years old. She has just made friends with the hottest guy in her year, his friend and his friend's sister. Life couldn't get any better when Hana's parents aren't home and her friends decide to stay the night. But when they get up the next morning, they find they are snowed in! They are all even more scared as they find all the nations parents have gone missing. With two nice guys and a new friend in her house, Hana figures she can cope, but when they run out of food, Hana is desperate to find a meaning to all the chaos. She and Owen head out of the roof hatch and into the unknown.
