“Get me out of here,” she whispered hoarsely, they stared back at her silently. The loathsome Petey grinned at her, wiggling his eyebrows.
Violet gripped the metal bars, shaking them violently and screaming in frustration. “Let me out!” 
“Now, now m’lady, don’t you think its time to rest those lovely eyes of yours?” Jack took a step forward, raising his palm towards her.
A child’s scream rang out, as she was blasted to the back of the wagon, banging into the hard wall. Darkness clouded her vision, as she fell to the ground, and slipped into unconsciousness.

When Violet begins experiencing her telepathic abilities, she goes to visit a close friend for advice. However, upon returning, she realizes too late that her powers have attracted slavers keen on kidnapping and selling young gifted children.

"By the way the names Avery Blue" I spoke loudly. Flashes of recognition crossed people's faces but Chase was the most shocked of them all. I stared at Chase straight in the eyes. "Karma's a bitch" before turning around and continuing my way to physics class. xx Avery Blue has had enough of being tormented by her classmates and leaves school to return with one agenda. To show everyone who's boss and not to mess with her. She leaves school for a term and comes back hotter than ever and also one major badass. You could say Karma's a bitch. The only thing missing on her agenda was to somehow get tangled up in a gang. It was darker here and panic limited her vision, but she could see it reaching for her; its wings like two huge looming shadows behind it. "Get away! Don't touch me! No, let me go!" She shrieked. She screamed in earnest as a hand took hold of her arm, and then even more when her own hand reached for something to hang onto and grasped at empty air. She had been scrambling towards a sudden drop! The hands hauled her back, but she still struggled. She didn't want to look at it, and she still wasn't sure she wouldn't rather take her chances with the open air instead. "Stop it, I'm not going to hurt you! You'll hit your head on the rock or something. Wren, please!" It knew her name. Somehow it knew her. She was going to die! "Let me go! Stop touching me!" She was sitting on the rocky floor now with her back against an uneven wall, and it was trying to pin her down and hold her still. She kept her eyes turned away and struggled helplessly, but it was no use. It was strong like a human man too, and she couldn't keep it off of her. The wings had moved until they curved around them both and shut out a lot of the light. Its face was so near hers that she could feel its breath brushing against her skin. "Please just look at me for a second. Just look. I'm not going to hurt you." One of the hands grabbed her chin and forced her head to turn, and then she was looking straight into a pair of dark brown eyes. It had a human face too. She had been expecting something monstrous or ghastly, and the surprise made her falter for a moment. He looked young, with a bad haircut and an earnest expression on his face. "I'll let go of you, okay? Just don't lunge around like that anymore, you'll get hurt." He whispered.

Leaving me dazed and confused, the angel rushes off calling out to something or someone, I'm not quite sure. I try to focus on the sound of her voice but the ringing in my ear coupled with the pain makes it impossible. 'Wait! I know that voice. Isn't that -' ARRRGGGHH! A mind numbing pain hits me as I begin to recall fragments of memories. My scream seems to have attracted the attention of the angel who runs back to me muttering words that I cannot hear, but it seems this time she is not alone. I feel myself slipping slowly back into unconsciousness as I take one last look at the blonde angel. "You - you saved me" I believe that it was at this moment I promised myself I would protect Esmeralda - no matter what!
