What if there was a place where serial killers and crime scenes became part of a normal conversation between teenagers? Where it wasn't weird to be watching prison interviews like a comedy show or to have an FBI agent play babysitter?

Normal isn't a great definition for these teenagers. In fact, if anything, they'd be called unnatural. Unnatural pasts with unnatural abilities. Could you detect a lie from a killer? Could you read the emotions of a con artist? Could you be able to tell a killer's MO from pictures, or even the color of car someone drove just by looking at them?

Life isn't all fun and games, no matter what these kids make you believe.  Even though kids are kidnapped and people stabbed to death or shot, these kids distance themselves. They laugh it off like it's no big deal.

Because when you care about something, it becomes real.

This story is not getting the attention it deserves, so I am attempting to "re-brand" it. Maybe no one "gets" it. If you want to read about "Normal" teenagers, maybe this isn't for you, it's more complicated than that. It's about a teenager who doesn't fit it, but doesn't want to, who has the best two friends that anyone could have. Who watched his father lose his job in the Recession and then loses his home, and how he copes, especially when he learns that their new house is haunted and the ghost is in his room. Michael was an average kid, although he's always stood out. He was a school jock but also a skater whose long blond hair almost reaches his waist. When his parents lived in a house in a home owners association like all his other friends, life seemed normal. Then his father lost his job and suddenly those "friends" weren't there anymore--except for his two best friends, Short Round and Dewey. The three are skaters, good ones, who live for girls and their skateboards. They're also basically good kids who take pride in being different without paying attention to it. When Michael loses his home and his family has to move they have his back. And they are there for him when the ghost girl starts following him around. Mariah was murdered when she was just 15, her remains were never found, although no one but her and her ghost friend, Crazy Girl, know where their bodies are buried. The house Michael now lives in is the one where she lived with her family, and her old room is now his. Alexis also has to figure out what these weird dizzy spells she keeps getting are. What happens when she starts to think they are more than just dizzy spells?
