Harry and Draco have been close friends since the start but only when behind closed doors, you see Draco's father would have disapproved highly of this friendship and him being a death eater it would have put Harry at risk and Draco didn't want that. and so their friendship stayed secret, not even Hermione had known of this strange duo.
Harry had been abused heavily since his childhood and it had really taken a toll on him over the years, but Draco was always there for him, no matter the circumstances, weather it was a panic attack or a hyper meltdown he was always able to calm him down.
it was strange to Harry that his so called bestfriends Hermione and Ron never noticed him sneaking off to see his secrete friend or him getting pulled into secrete corridors by Draco, he pondered on it but eventually realised that Ron and Hermione were to infatuated with each other to even notice harry was there majority of the time although there was one time Ron thought he was sneaking off with a girl which made Draco laugh until he couldn't breathe. I admit it was rather amusing.
in 6th year when Draco told harry that he was a death eater he expected Harry to freak out and lose it but Harry just stared at him for a moment before pulling him into a warm hug whispering sweet nothings into his ear, he loved Draco and his father forcing him to be a death eater wouldn't change that. and I mean Draco helped him with his nightmares, he helped with Harrys abuse, he helped Harrys ptsd, and when harry would come back to school Draco was there to heal his wounds.
when on the Horcrux hunt Harry and Draco were miserable without each other, when harry got back to the castle looking for the last horcrux he didn't see Draco until the ROR, he was so scared that Draco was hurt after they got blown out he tried to look for him but blaise pulled Draco away from him at the last minute. and he didn't see him after that. now here they are, going back to Hogwarts for one final year
