I didn't live in a town small enough to know everybody that knew everybody, but it also wasn't big enough to not notice when someone came into town. Especially someone new. I noticed him. Everyone did. The Stranger. Always watching me, always there in the back of my classes. Just... watching. He gave off vibes. Not bad vibes but not good either. It was like he had the words don't come near me tattooed on his body, a feeling that made the town gossips whisper with menace and disapproving glares.
