You don't remember much of your life before the fall of the nuclear bombs- brief, fleeting memories of the core components at most. You recall being collected by a man and woman both dressed in black suits moments after receiving the notification notifying you of the incoming missiles; and since then, your life has been insufferably boring. You know you have a purpose, a mission, but in outpost three all you have to entertain yourself is an endless library of political texts, a once a day meal of gelatine cubes and the other survivors. That is, until Michael Langdon arrives at the outpost. A man there to decide who gets to live - and who is left to rot. The moment you lay your eyes upon him your heart is set ablaze, your true self beginning to claw itself to the surface.
