This book is about how to overcome, more like learn to live with and co-exist with, depression and self-doubt. And how people around you may act a certain way but could be far from what is really happening with them. In other words, anyone around you can smile and laugh all they want but once they are by themselves... they break completely. This book touches on sensitive topics that have scarred and hurt people of all colors, ethnicities, nationalities, sexualities and genders. There are mentions of hate crimes, racism, manipulation, depression, self harm, suicide, and sexual and mental abuse. If you have experienced any of these things, my heart goes out to you. Each of these characters has their own things they deal with behind closed doors... each of them a part of myself. A book that is coming from a fellow Eccedentesiast. Eccedentesiast; (noun) someone who hides pain behind a smile. This is the story of an abused teenage girl, Maddie. Her need to die has become overwhelming and she is trying to find a way to help herself before she does something she may regret. The story is told from her point of view as she recalls all that has happened to her. Maybe telling her story will help her, maybe not. This isn't just any other sob story. This is more realistic. You may even find yourself comparing your life to Maddie's while reading this story. Disclosure: I wrote this as a 13-year-old and the writing is definitely not up to my current standards, but I feel as though changing what I have already written would take away from the emotion I put into this story at 13 years old. You guys are the first people to read it so I really hope you enjoy it and if you are in a similar situation I hope this brings you some form of comfort, like a warm hug in the form of words. -There is not nearly enough awareness around women on women sexual assault so I'm here to do my part and add my drop into the ocean. -When this book is published (and turned into an actual book lol) it will have a special section at the back for the reader to personalise if they don't have anyone to talk to or just want to get their feelings written down. This section will also offer support, statistics and advice from someone who has been in the same position. -Any funds made when I publish this book will be going to a chosen sa survivors charity.
