"I'm here until I finish high school." A phrase that two eighteen-year-old nerds in East Riastell share. Oliver Murphy and Amelia Hofstedder are nerds at best. While both have their own worlds and journeys ahead of them, fate allows the two to meet as students of East Riastell High.

Oliver, an above-average student, is about to meet the end of his ever-searching journey in High School. Meanwhile, Amelia along with her parents are new to town. She is facing the same situation but has to deal with the burden of having to leave and transfer to different schools each year due to her father's business. All she ever wanted was for them to settle down, but knowing that their stay in East Riastell is temporary, she doesn't feel at home at all.

Along with his friends, Oliver plans on getting through the whole year to find better opportunities outside East Riastell. All goes well when all of a sudden, he meets Amelia, an exchange student and a new personality to East Riastell High. Amelia, struggling to keep herself from falling apart, faces new challenges that would test her strength. With her mother being in a coma, she desperately begs for a miracle. The two, being close by the end of the semester, tries to help each other throughout the whole school year. Little did they know, both of them will make a huge change in each other's lives. Changes that would lead to life-altering choices and would determine what their life will be like in the future, with or without the other person.

"He seemed like a puzzle to me, and I really liked solving puzzles. But somehow, I don't think that I would ever be able to solve this one." Amelia Heart, with her large smile and her infectious laugh, is what most people would think has the perfect life. They would watch as she went back to her beach house, as she went out of her way to stop and chat to her neighbours, as she would get the perfect grades. When her plans of leaving suddenly change, and she is forced to start attending the local school, her life takes a route that she hadn't accounted for. A new group of friends, a chance at a normal teenage life, even a potential love interest - things that Amelia had never even thought about happening after everything she'd been through. It wasn't surprising to her when her past began to catch up with her present, it was simply a good thing that it had taken as long as it had. Things start happening in Amelia's life that simply don't make sense, even to her. They do say you should always keep an eye over your shoulder, especially when you know you're being hunted, but for Amelia, even an eye in every direction wouldn't be enough. "Amelia, why do you even want to become friends with this guy so badly?" "Because he's Easton Foster." "He won't become friends with you because you're only twelve years old; I probably wouldn't even be friends with you if I wasn't the same age." "I know." Amelia Nelson, a marching band flutist in her freshman year of high school with her eyes set on eventually becoming the valedictorian, is anything but the average 12-year-old. Skipping two grades, Amelia is often insulted for being twelve years old; however, she always manages to create a retort. Easton Foster is a 16-year-old sophomore on the James Madison High School football team who hopes to secure the role of team captain his junior year. A nonchalant football player with an excellent sense of humor, Amelia knows that a friendship between them could never occur. Amelia promised to remain focused on her studies, but when her biology teacher assigns Easton as her lab partner for the year, she suddenly desires to become friends with him. She knows attempting at becoming friends with Easton would be a distraction, yet she can't shake the idea of it every time she interacts with him. As Amelia hides her newfound platonic attraction toward Easton from her family, she faces the ultimate dilemma: What's more important-the future she's planned, or the unexpected connections that could change everything? She has to decide, and fast. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A coming-of-age dramedy novel exploring relatable high school challenges, familial relationships, identity, and unlikely friendships between characters with contrasting personalities. *TW* Contains topics and scenes of sexual assault, self-harm, abuse.* "You know you loved every second of it," I can feel the tears welling up as well as the anger building up within me. I stare at him for a while before I have to turn away from his hungry gaze. "Look I just came here to tell you that I forgive you for what you did back in Cali and I'll take you back," "You forgive me?" I yell. "I did nothing to you. You raped me! You fucking raped me! You have no right to come here and tell me that. You. Forgive. Me. You traumatized me. What you did to me tore me up inside and was eating away at me until I tried to kill myself. And when I told people they didn't believe me. I had to listen to so many people talk about how great a guy you were and how I clearly just regretted sleeping with you. You are a monster. You made me hate myself for something that was never my fault. You have caused me so much pain and suffering," I pause to take a deep breath. "So you don't get to come here to my school and tell me you forgive me. You don't get to make me feel bad about coming forward. The only thing I regret is ever thinking you were a good person." _____________________________________________ Logan Young is a 16-year-old girl about to start her senior year in a brand new town. Amelia Ray McKenna is an outgoing teenager, thriving in the social landscape of high school. With a tight-knit group of friends, a supportive family, and a life that seems perfectly in place, she feels as though everything is as it should be. That is, until Christopher Nicholson moves into her neighborhood. Amelia is instantly intrigued by the arrival of the Nicholson family, especially since it's not every day that a childhood friend returns home. After the death of Mark Nicholson, beloved father and wife to the Nicholson family, at the age of nine, Christopher and his family had uprooted and left abruptly. Amelia hadn't heard from the family-not even her mother, who was friends with Christopher's mother, Charlotte, could either. After seven years of silence, the family moves back in, and Amelia is determined to reconnect. But the boy she once knew is gone. The cheerful, easygoing friend she remembered has been replaced by a distant, brooding stranger. Known for her energetic personality and outgoing nature, it only makes sense that she would want to catch up with Christopher. However, the boy she once knew is no longer the same. The carefree, smiley friend from her childhood has been replaced by a distant, detached young man. He barely speaks to her and shows little to no emotion outwardly to anyone else either. Amelia is shocked by the transformation, struggling to understand what has happened to the boy who was once so full of life. As she watches him, Amelia begins to wonder just how much his father's death- and the years that followed- have shaped him. Was the grief of losing his father the only thing that changed him, or is there more to the story than she ever imagined? One thing is clear though: Amelia, ever the optimist, is determined to break through the walls Christopher has built around himself- she had gotten her hands on a very grumpy Chris, and this time she wasn't letting him go.
