The world isn't fair, reality is cruel and that we normally distract ourselves from the truth, fearing it. Some get driven insane to the point to where they commit suicide, the suicide affects others, traumatizing them leading them to their own deaths. It's a chain reaction, one which had caught Ray and Norman in, though they're lucky enough to meet again as spirits, roaming the earth freely. They hear rumors about their death, completely unsure if it's true since themselves don't know how they died, only know how the other died.
