An immortal all alone in the world, left with the belief that he's the only one like him who remains. A clue turns up in his drab, repetitive life, and suddenly, his entire view of the universe has the chance to be changed.
Author's note: I actually wrote this for a short school project on the hero's journey, and wrote it with Dream and George in mind. In the end I was able to just switch the names out, and yes, I know it's pretty short, but I hope you enjoy!

I didn't want to do the things I did, didn't revel in other people's pain, but I did what I had to to survive. At least that's what I tell myself. The people left only care about themselves, if they didn't care that I murdered someone, why should I? ----- After a fatal war that caused the world's governments to collapse, the world fell into chaos that it never recovered from. Now the wealthy control everything, using mercenaries that rely on them to stay afloat to carry out their dirty work. Dream was one of these mercenaries, one of the most skilled that their was. He was willing to do what he had to, never thought twice about ending someone's life in the blink of an eye, that is until he was instructed to kill someone, someone he cared deeply for without a real reason to. This caused his entire way of life to go into turmoil, so why is he willing to risk everything for some random boy he met on the street? ----- (TW!!!!: blood, violence, death, use of weaponry, slight mention of mental manipulation, though not much) if any of these things affect you, DO NOT read on, for they will be periodic themes throughout the entirety of the story. DISCONTINUED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. An angsty, epic, enemies to lovers/ forbidden love story. Dream grew up as a commoner in a foster home for sixteen years. When his birth parents die, Dream's life is turned upside down-he is now King. He is inexperienced and sent to an allied Kingdom to learn how to rule. There, he meets Prince George, an experienced, emotionally closed off, stubborn ruler who wants nothing to do with Dream. As both rulers fall victim to centuries of unchanged laws/stigmas, usurpers, and assassination attempts, they try to find the balance between listening to their duty to their Kingdoms and the duty to their hearts. Their story unravels itself through a series of flashbacks as each memory resurfaces years later in Dream's mind. When Dream is assigned a reading project for his English class, he is extremely annoyed since he hates reading. This all gets turned on its head when dream finds mysterious Post-It notes left in the book he read for the project. Some of the notes were silly, others were more serious, but they all intrigued Dream, who wanted nothing more than to meet the mystery writer behind these notes. Someone who defends the weak and protects everyone from harm, yet seeks no reward nor recognition for their actions... the idea of becoming a true hero has always appealed to George since he was a child. So he trained hard, graduating top of his class to join the Twilight agency, which was a government-funded organization that deals with cases that normal police forces are unable to handle. He finds himself reassigned to the K-9 department, where he has to choose a dog for his partner. George is surprised however to find that the "dogs" that he has to choose from, are not the four-legged, furry creatures that he knows of...
