Some people are good judges of character, and others just see a number representing the person's danger level over their head. Ella is in the second group, and sometimes it's a problem. Trouble was already coming for her, the kind that has been brewing for years, further back than her memory goes. But her memory has been cut off, and she doesn't remember all the life she has lived. Typically, she avoids anyone over a four, though even that high makes her slightly nervous. Unfortunately, her small town is an odd place, and odd places attract odd people. Evan's rank is as high as she's yet to see, and it may very well be because he's crazy. At least, that's how he sounds trying to tell her that she's not actually from that world, or 'realm' as he puts it, and that she has lived another life back there. He doesn't get a chance to prove himself as she goes missing like several other teens have. On the bright side, however, she now knows he isn't crazy.
