It's been a month since Lillian Bankhurst discovered her true identity. As Lillian grows increasingly distant from the DIAO, the investigators begin to take note of her suspicious behavior- particularly Assistant Director Galena Tarmont, whose mother has collaborated with Dakota to keep his background hidden. But Galena has bigger things to worry about after her coworker accuses her of spying- and when a bizarre incident leaves her questioning her own sanity, she's left wondering how much Dakota could be capable of. Galena begins an independent investigation into this mysterious event, Lillian's personal life becomes entangled in her newfound abilities, and Dakota encounters the ghosts of his enigmatic past. Soon, they find their paths twining into an elaborate knot, bearing them all towards a common destiny too vast for any of them to imagine.
