"This isn't real!" I yell as I close my eyes and cover my ears even though this Oliver character is still holding onto me. "Yes it is! You have to come with us! It's dangerous for a guardian to be out and exposed with no training at all," he tells me as I open my eyes. "I'm not going!" I repeat. "You have to!" he yells. "Over my dead body!" I refute as I punch Oliver in the face and sprint away. I immediately make another run for it, and all my options race through my head. I quickly choose to go to my neighbors house. I hastily knock on the door, but to my demise no one answers. I quickly pivot and begin running again, but Oliver stops me in my tracks. "I wish it didn't have to be this way," Kian mysteriously mutters as they walk towards me. As they approach, I prepare myself for the worst. Oliver comes striking at me and once he touches me he whispers sometimes in a foreign language. I feel a sense of calming fatigue overcome me and I feel my body go limp as I crash to the ground and pass out.

"You're a Shifter." This caught me off-guard. A Shifter? I had heard of them, thieves and criminals that are able to shift to the Other Realm using shadows. Seventeen-year-old Adaria Feur is extremely confused when she wakes up in a room with no memory of how she got there, no memory of the powers everyone keeps telling her she has, and not a clue of how to survive a prestigious academy that is actually training teens into becoming agents for a secret organization called F.E.A.R. However, the thing that worries her most is the pair of amber eyes she keeps seeing in her dreams. They're so beautiful, familiar, warm... but dangerous. And she knows that they hold her whole world, whether she likes it or not.
