Michael has always been shy and timid. Not because he was abused at home or anything like that. In fact, he had very loving parents. Very rich, loving parents. And well, whenever people found out, they always suddenly wanted to be his friend to use him. To get the latest gadgets or games for their birthdays, and to borrow money that they never give back.
