I felt the bed dip as he sat down on the other side but I focused solely on my task until I was done. "This is a pillow barrier. Meaning, you don't breach this side of the pillows." I instructed, my voice firm. "What if I don't want anything between us?" Phoenix said in a husky voice, and I risked a glance. Bad choice. His eyes were dark and his gaze was on my lips, to my chest, then back to my lips. "Eyes up here, buddy." I snapped the third time his eyes went down to my chest. All he did was turn off the lights. When it was dark, he whispered," Can't I admire what is mine?" I had no answer, and turned on my side. He sighed. Despite taking two naps today, I was out cold the minute my head hit my pillow. I could only hope that in the morning, the pillow barrier was still there. ***** Adira has a secret, one she would do anything to protect. Ayla is lost and alone; a wolf who can not transition. She spends her days searching..but for what, she isn't sure. His pack grows more powerful each year, and with that power, the increasing pressure to find his mate.. but Aryan doesn't want to settle for choosing his mate. He believes destiny will bring them together. Excerpt: 'The moon shone through the window, catching tiny specks of dust. I watched them, mesmerised for a moment, as the gentle light cast by the moonbeams caught them and lit them up. They sparkled, dancing and floating through the air, then disappeared again into the shadow of the night. I rolled over and looked at the man lying naked in bed beside me. His dark, tattooed, muscular body was covered only by a single stark white sheet. My entire body shivered and flushed warm at the memory of our night together... His face was handsome; and breathtakingly so. His jawline was strong and defined, it was easy to see that, even beneath the short stubble he had. His lips were plump and perfectly formed in the most kissable shape I had ever seen. They're what captivated me the most. I reached up gently, in an almost dream-like state; surely this man before me couldn't be real. I caressed his lips with my thumb, and he let them fall slightly open to my touch. He shivered gently, but didn't pull away. My gaze continued up his face and landed on his eyes. Dark and dangerous, filled with lust and secrets.' Warning: mature content. Slowly she began reaching her hand towards the animal, feeling compelled to touch it. Would it be as soft as it looked? Did it want her to touch it? The rain continued pelting them, but it felt like its eyes were drawing her into another space, where nothing else mattered. The sudden desire to be closer to this animal was beginning to overtake her mind, especially as her hand neared its head. The whole time the animal only watched her with those large eyes. She imagined it almost asking for her touch. It didn't cross her mind how she knew he'd be soft, or how she even knew the creature was a 'he' to begin with. As her finger just barely grazed the animal, multiples things happened. She felt something shock her causing her to pull her hand back, just as thunder and lightning sounded. When the light cleared the animals' eyes, were narrowed into slits, and it was growling. It was a deep menacing sound that sent her stumbling backward, heart wildly beating. It bared fangs the size of her hand alone dipping its head. Had her touch angered the animal into finally attacking her? She kept moving backward in the rain, slipping in her converses as the creature continued growling. It was then she knew she was prepared to run, no matter what happened. In a world where love is a liability and trust comes at a deadly price, can Luna and Callum's bond survive the ultimate test? ................................... Luna's scream pierced the night, jolting me awake. I found her huddled in the corner, her eyes wild with fear and glowing an unnatural silver. "Luna?" I approached cautiously. "What's wrong?" "Stay back!" she snarled, her voice distorted. "I can't... I can't control it, Callum." Suddenly, she convulsed, and a burst of energy exploded from her, shattering every window in the room. As the glass rained down, I saw Marcus materialize in the doorway, his eyes gleaming with triumph. "It's time, Luna," he purred. "You can't run from your destiny forever." I moved to stand between them, my wolf rising to the surface. "You'll have to go through me first." Marcus's laugh sent chills down my spine. "Oh, I'm counting on it, Alpha." The Alpha's guarded mate was previously called The Alpha's Luna, A Destiny Divided.
