Magic is a part of everyday life in the Kingdom of Fiore. As such, life has become much easier for everyone. Of course, some devote their lives to magic and creating magical guilds all over the land. Multiple people have spotted this beast and various other ones all over the Kingdom as wizards set out to defeat them. Some of them managed to defeat them but others weren't so lucky. With these beasts roaming around, the evil minds of certain individuals sought to speak out their power and make it their own. As such, they manage to capture one and begin their brutal experiments on children that were kidnapped. Just as they were making progress, an accident occurred causing a massive explosion destroying the building, and killing everyone inside. Just as it appears no one survived, the experiments were the only ones that survived. Now free, they dispersed throughout the land acting like the animals that they were given. One of the children who was the main subject for obtaining Zinogre's powers fled for his life not wanting to be captured ever again. The master of Fairy Tail, Makarov, was returning from a Guild Meeting when he ran into the boy. He acted rather hostile to him as Makarov saw that he was nothing more than a frightened child, not knowing who to trust.
