For most of their lives, three friends were raised in an orphanage. One becomes Grisha while the other two are left behind. The lonely friend was taken under General Kirigan's wing because she was different from the rest of the Grisha. The two have never gotten along all that well since her personality only appealed to certain people, but despite their constant bickering, they trusted each other, cared for each other and maybe...even love each other?
