Ezra Phantoms was a kid who got the short end of the stick when it came to luck in life. Not only was he unlucky, he was also a pretty odd kid. His oddness combined with his unlucky nature made his life very difficult for him to tolerate at times. He was aware of how unlucky he was but not how odd he was. To him, everybody else were the odd ones. This had made his life a living hell. His bad luck made it feel so much like this that he actually came to the conclusion that he had a curse. Now of course, this was more or less a joke to him. He knew that he wasn't actually cursed. Well, at least that's what he thought. To his surprise, that conclusion wasn't just superstition. Soon though, this trait of his that made his life Hell would help make everybody else's lives feel like Heaven.

Unfortunately, Ezra's shadow is highly protective of its master which ultimately keeps people away due to its intense power. Years of isolation have allowed Ezra to see just how cruel and unforgiving people truly are. Not knowing anything beyond the walls of his town, he often dreams of how life would be like if he was normal. On an average day, Ezra meets a traveling performer. This chance encounter begins to unfold the path to Ezra's future. Learning of The Church of Zelst, a mystical church that floats through the sky, Ezra sets off with the hopes to remove his 'gift.'
