Having lived on a pirate ship for a majority of his life, Morgan had thought he was immune to the idea of surprise. When a man would jump over-board, driven insane by the open ocean, he would shrug and remember to pick up another crew member the next time they went to port. If someone were to drop dead on the main deck from heat exhaustion, he would nod, remembering how they'd been sick days before. Most things, now at least, he was able to anticipate.
