No one thought that a successful cure for cancer, which was soon implemented in all hospitals around the world, could mutate into something so... horrifying. People would heal from the cancer at first, but their cells would slowly start to decay, decompose, rot... but not die...
For some strange reason, whoever got the so famous cure, wouldn't be able to die, or at least, not with conventional methods.
It wasn't that big of a problem at first, but when the decomposition reached the brain, the patients would lose their memories and become aggressive, starting to attack and bite others around them, spreading this infection, which soon turned into a global problem.
THIS STORY WILL CONTAIN GORE AND A LOT OF WARNING FOR SEVERAL TRIGGERS, FOR WHICH I WILL PUT WARNINGS FOR YA READERS BEFORE SAID TRIGGER COMES =^_^=

Giving up on that dream, he found out he had special skills in making coffee, will he be able to balance school and work again? will that skill save him and his sister? All while dealing with eating disorders and recovering from self harm? Will working in a coffee shop change his life? ------- this is my first PROPER dnf story. One of these included the wealthy city of Tallahassee, Florida, where they had the brightest minds looking for a cure. George Davidson was among those minds: his father was one of the richest people in the world prior to the outbreak and had sent George to one of the most prestigious medical schools in the country. Afterwards, after an incident that caused much grief in the Davidson family, George's father had set George on finding a cure. Finally, after four years of sleepless nights and painful losses, George had done it. He'd found the cure. But if that was the case, then why did he hire a coyote to smuggle him out of the city? Why did he run away with the only known cure for zombie-ism? I didn't want to do the things I did, didn't revel in other people's pain, but I did what I had to to survive. At least that's what I tell myself. The people left only care about themselves, if they didn't care that I murdered someone, why should I? ----- After a fatal war that caused the world's governments to collapse, the world fell into chaos that it never recovered from. Now the wealthy control everything, using mercenaries that rely on them to stay afloat to carry out their dirty work. Dream was one of these mercenaries, one of the most skilled that their was. He was willing to do what he had to, never thought twice about ending someone's life in the blink of an eye, that is until he was instructed to kill someone, someone he cared deeply for without a real reason to. This caused his entire way of life to go into turmoil, so why is he willing to risk everything for some random boy he met on the street? ----- (TW!!!!: blood, violence, death, use of weaponry, slight mention of mental manipulation, though not much) if any of these things affect you, DO NOT read on, for they will be periodic themes throughout the entirety of the story. Dream didn't believe a person could be home, and especially didn't believe a person could be so comforting from just their look, but suddenly the whole perspective of his life swapped and he couldn't peel his eyes off the lovely boy. George is cancer free after a long battle full of chemotherapy and surgeries at his fourteenth. He starts living his life again, goes back to school and hangs out with his friends and family to appreciate all the small things in life as his leg starts hurting again... Clay is grieving because his mother passed away from lymphoma, a cancer type that's running in his family. With barely anyone around him who can comfort him while grieving, he also needs to deal with his severe anxiety coming from emetophobia, his extreme fear of throwing up. But then the worst thing happens... just as Clay gets diagnosed with blood cancer, George gets diagnosed for the second time with bone cancer. Clay's fear is so big that he doesn't know how to go on and George doesn't know if he can fight this battle a second time... Warnings: -Cancer (bone cancer (relapse)/blood cancer) -Suicidal thoughts/suicide attempt (short) -Bullying (only once in the end) -Throwing up (skippable) -Chemotherapy -Amputation ⚠️ Clay has emetophobia in this story and for all the people with this same phobia, I added a trigger for mentions/talk about throwing up/nausea, a trigger for nausea and one for throwing up.
