When Deena Belmore and her brother are shipped off to stay with their dad in the Outer Banks for the summer whilst their mother plans for her fancy wedding in New York, she was expecting to spend her days lounging at the beach and relaxing.
But when she, quite literally, collides with the Pogues, Deena is thrown into a whirlwind of new friendships, treasure and danger as they race to discover the secrets of the Royal Merchant.
Add in family issues, guns and an infuriatingly confusing blonde boy to the mix and one thing becomes certain - this summer promises to be one Deena will never forget.

{Book 1/2} Growing up in the shadow of her older half brother, John B, would not have been the life Harley would have chosen. After being dumped there at age six, Harley learnt quickly, that when you're a pogue, you don't have the best of luck. After being blackmailed by JJ, her brothers annoying best friend, Harley somehow finds herself getting in way over her head on a treasure hunt with John B and his friends, and in the chaos of it all, she finds herself starting to accept the fact that maybe pogue life isn't that bad after all, and maybe a certain blonde headed pogue in particular, wasn't as annoying as she originally thought. For the purpose of this story and the content in it, Harley is sixteen at the start of season 1 and the Pogues/ kooks are aged up by 1 year.
