The story is about a girl who lives in The Rocky Mountains of Colorado and dreams of the rock cycle there.
This story was written as an assignment for my college Earth Science class final project. It took me three days from the due date to have it completed. I initially had a different story that was being written when my teacher changed part of the assignment. The new assignment was to write about The Rocky Mountains. My teacher did keep the fact that it could be fictional but the story I was working on was too far to change. I had a week to research what I could and make it in to a story.
The sources I used were Google, two of my teacher's power point, and SobrietyStones (2010). And the image is also from Google.

(edit) I forgot to add that this started out as a confessional journal about becoming clean after a 10 year + addiction to OTC cold meds, but that was not my style of writing, I liked the material so I wanted to expand it into a novel length work featuring the journal elements. To say this work is a roller coaster would put it lightly. Although there are elements of time travel I would consider my sudden transitions reality travel. I use actual experience and dreams as a foundation, then toss in some fourth wall breaking narratives (meta-fiction), with a sprinkling of facts and quotations from songs and factual articles. It tends to be written similarly to an essay sans the boring. I have been influenced strongly by Vonnegut and W. S. Burroughs , and a wide variety of album rock, and that bleeds through. The tags dystopian and dark humor describe the whole piece best but there is a lot of genre jumping. I've done a good deal of research, not just for factual things but for the type of writing I do. Okay, so here's how it all began. Basically, teenagers have been vanishing across the country and no one has the foggiest idea what's going on (myself included). To Quinn, When you read this I'll be over at Zen's place for a couple days. Just letting you know that I have shared a part of my journal publicly. I mean in the online world. Be aware that I've only used your first name, but others have been named. Some of our actual conversations were recorded in this journal. I guess sort of like a book even though writing isn't one of my better strengths. Buddy, that keychain you gave me changed many things. I began sharing this in July and I made my last post early on New Year's Day. You'll be happy to know that the plans for the new center are locked in the safe. I look forward to working with you in this new year we find ourselves in, and please forgive me for telling tales out of school. Your friend, Ash So now that the description is out of the way I can break that fourth wall. The idea for the description was recommended to me by a very good friend since I didn't know how to describe this journal which took place in real time. Dark Matter is a chapter of a much larger work titled "Chronicle of Rouge hill' which I've been writing since I was a teenager. I had started in early 2009 and quickly shelved it in 2010 after I saw "Inception", realizing the ideas were too close. It was picked up again in October of 2012 when I realized what it had to be: less focus on the technical aspects and jargon, and the addition of a love interest. Also, the mission of the "Order of ravens" was changed simply to collecting dream tech. All ten parts were written during the period of October 2012 to March 2013. The idea was to begin posting it on blogger.com in July and it would end in real time, on new year's eve. The events of my real life have indeed influenced the writing.
