A very pissed off Clarke is kidnapped and dragged to Lexa in Polis (not by Roan.) Seeing Clarke's state of mind, Lexa enforces an ancient clan law that protects highly esteemed warriors (like Wanheda) when they show signs of mental illness or PTSD. By imposing this law, it forces Clarke to be out of the public eye and alone with Lexa. Catching on quickly that Clarke favors punishing herself to heal from her guilt after the mountain, Lexa designs some interesting methods.

** Please note: This story is an alternative timeline/alternative universe depiction. They are still in the grounders world but do not expect to have your typical fanfic Clarke/Lexa or your Canon Clarke and Lexa. THIS will be different.**

After Mount Weather, Clarke Griffin can't bring herself to walk through the gates of Arkadia. For months, she wanders through the wilderness, tortured by the repercussions of the decisions she has made and haunted by the lives she has taken, and, in her final form of penance, she takes her own. Greeted by Death himself, he informs her of a soon to occur extinction-level event, one he calls Praimfaya, and he tells her that she is the only one who can save humanity. Long after she has taken her final breath, he returns her to life so she may serve her daunting purpose, and the aftermath of unnaturally crossing back through the veil that separates life and death manifests in powerful abilities beyond comprehension. A relationship that began as enemies, progressed to allies, and culminated in betrayal, grows into something much deeper, and, even in the face of imminent death, the love between two leaders grows stronger than ever. After vowing to remain by Clarke's side no matter the danger, with only five months to prepare for the end of the world, Lexa and Clarke search for solutions to save it together. Not even conflict pauses in the face of extinction, however, and with a terrifying creature wanting Clarke's soul, the queen of Azgeda wanting Clarke's head, and war brewing on the horizon, the task of stopping Praimfaya seems exponentially more impossible. Clarke's title of Wanheda, the Commander of Death, has never been more literal, and, with this new purpose of saving humanity, she can't help but wonder if the Commander of Death is capable of bringing anything other than that. 23 parts Complete Mature

Clarke Griffin, a young, kind-hearted and hard-working mother of two teenagers, couldn't be happier with her life. She loves her family, her job, her apartment- it's just romantic relationships that don't work for her, now that she has children, but that's fine with her. Lexa Woods has travelled the world, tried out different jobs, and is fairly happy with tutoring and living with her best friend now. She still struggles to open up entirely to people, but she's learning to. When Clarke hires Lexa as a tutor for her twins, she merely hopes that her children's academic performance improves. She doesn't even think as far as that the woman could become more than that, let alone become the person who proves her outdated views on being a single mom wrong. At the time Lexa drives to the Griffin's apartment for the first time, she doesn't think that a smile could be as warm as to burn through the chains left around her heart either. Sometimes even adults are wrong, though. // 9# clexa 28.05.23
