Saachi Gunder loves her life as an intern on Kamino, right in the heart of the action of the Republic's cloning operation. She and her fellow interns learn the biological art of cloning under tutelege from the wise Nala Se, take part in the clone's upbringing, and prepare to recite their theses before the dean of the Republic's Satele University on Coruscaunt in the next few months.
And all at once, the war ends. And everything Saachi defined herself by begins to fall apart.
First, the Jedi are wiped out. The clones Saachi has spent three years befriending and learning from turn cold and aloof. The Republic eviscerates before her eyes. Kamino's cloning operation, and with it her doctorate, teeter on the verge of eradication.
And then Omega disappears. 
In searching for the interns' honorary mascot, Saachi meets the infamous Clone Force 99 and becomes entangled in their escape from their home that is now trying to destroy them. With nothing left to lose, Saachi drags Omega aboard the Marauder in a haze of laserfire and broken hearts.
Saachi leaves everything behind as the Empire takes over, but perhaps she'll find a new everything in soft brown eyes and a solid heartbeat.

Joining in on their adventures she learns of Crosshair joining the Empire. And a certain Engineer and nerd starts to fall for this Jedi who is still holding onto the past teachings and principles. (She will make an appearance after the first few chapters of this story.) The memories of what occured on Kaller still fresh in her mind a bounty hunter tracks her down. After fleeing she finds herself on Ord Mantell, after finding the bad batch she is reunited with a friend who was beleived to be dead. she see's that Tech is love stricken with her friend. Putting her own sorrows to the side Carlina does everything in her power to make love come to life! (LOL).

If you want to read a slow burn about Crosshair, this is for you. It is completely cannon compliant and fun to read if you have seen the first season. It fits into the season as if it was always a part of what was happening. What if Crosshair stays with the empire because he has more there that just being a good soldier to come back to? Written in novel format based on Season 1 of the Bad Batch, this is a platonic romance that dives into the darkness of what Kamino has done to the clones and what the future holds for them after Order 66 and the enactment of War-Mantle. As an author, I enjoy looking deeper at the issues of interpersonal drama woven together with politics. A story about Crosshair and his journey fits that quite nicely. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Story Description: The war was over, but the danger of the future remained.
