Admittedly, she should have known nothing positive could come out of sitting on a high branch, poorly attempting to keep balance on the side of good and simultaneously scribbling something down in a notebook, looking in the far nothingness here and then like that vaguely feminine stranger that had decided to do just that. And perhaps, just perhaps, she should not have got so close to that tree in the first place.

In her defence, the bird had been pretty. And so had seemed to be the stranger, who, Sylvie had noted off-handedly, vaguely resembled Tessa Thompson in the most bizarre summer outfit of summer outfits. That, of course, had not been among the reasons why she'd taken a leap of faith and inched ever so closer to the tree.

Her focus had been on the bird anyway.
