You are a college student going to a boarding school in the Otherworld called Alfea College

If you are a fairy, you learn to control the elements they were born with: 
Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Light, or Mind

If you are a specialist, you train in high-stakes fighting tactics to become warriors

Magic is linked to emotion: Love, Joy, Hope, Pride, Hatred, Fear, Sadness, Disgust
The stronger the emotion, the stronger the magic

However, there is a catch. There is a Barrier that protects the school and the humans from the "Burned Ones"
They are vicious, scorched humanoid figures with claws, with the ability to infect those they attack, turning them rabid and violent over time
The infection spread at a rapid rate, until it was temporarily controlled by a potion named Zanbaq
In order to survive and heal completely, one must kill the Burned One that infected the said person, which is carried out by incinerating their magical core, or cinder, with the aid of fire magic. After the Burned Ones are killed, they revert to their human form

Now, after 16 years, the Burned Ones are back, and stronger than ever, something new and strange fueling their power.
