Maria Brown joins the US Army back in 1942 as an act of revenge for the death of her family. She is shipped out to join the 107th in Germany but is forced to act a man as to not disadvantage the US Army.
When they eventually invade a Hydra base, she and the rest of hers and Sergeant Barnes' unit is captured; over 200 men. She is experimented on and her true identity is revealed. But the love created between her and Barnes stays strong, even when they are separated for over 70 years.
'War Guilt' is a story of sacrifice, hardship and love during the awful times of WW11 and onwards.

Flesh and Bone β—‡ Bucky Barnes β—‡ by authorsbane
45 parts Complete Mature
Not everything Hydra did had a specific purpose. Sometimes they tortured people and ruined lives just because they could. The kidnapping of Joana Kegley served no greater purpose than to help break in their newest experiment. Before her boyfriend went to war, Joana was a simple girl who helped her elderly grandmother run a clothing store. After her boyfriend went to war, she became something of a small town hero. A woman came to her personally to tell her that her boyfriend, Bucky Barnes, and her best friend, Steve Rogers, had both died bringing down Hydra. It wasn't long after that when she was plucked off the street like some stray cat and chained to a chair like a dog on a leash, where she learned that Bucky had endured something worse than death and that she was there to help them break him. Nothing she did could stop the turn of events that took place as the years rolled by. She hardly noticed that neither one of them aged. It wasn't until Hydra fell and she was still locked away, somewhere in the deep pits of some underground facility, that she realized how much the world had changed. Bucky Barnes remembered very little outside his own name, but he remembered a girl. He remembered a girl with a voice of reason, who spoke only the truth to him, who wanted nothing more than to keep him safe from himself. She did everything she could to stop her superiors, and he would do anything to get her back. {I don't own Marvel. Basically, everything goes to the creators. I just got Jo and Winnie and some other stuff I made up. It will get dark, so if you don't think that that's for you, please don't read. Enjoy}
