When Kodi Barker returns from a brief trip to the mainland, her friends set out their plan to make the most of their summer break. The five teenagers had every intention of drinking, smoking, surfing and catching as much sun as possible before school comes around in September again.

The plan goes awry the moment they find a sunken Grady-White out on the marshes and decide to delve deeper into the mystery surrounding the boat and what it has to do with the disappearance of John B's father.

None of them can prepare for the web of lies, deceit and murder that they unravel with each passing day. Soon enough, their summer plans are thrown out of the window in favour of finding the sunken wreck of the Royal Merchant and the gold that went with it.
