Sam Goodnight has it all: the perfect family; the perfect grades; the perfect looks. Basically he has the perfect life, and that was what he thought until he realised (after the girl he loved ran to the arms of comfort of someone, also from that world, who understood) that there was a completely different world, right near his perfect neighbourhood, full of harshness and hardship.
What Sam now feels on the inside is far from perfect, and the hole of emptiness within him gapes open even more as days go by.
Yet that is until he meets her. Safira.
Safira Ayad is beautiful and broken. With the responsibility of four young siblings (who she adores) and money troubles on the shoulders at 17, Safira doesn't have the time for pretty boys.
