Diane Cypress is being blackmailed, and there's nothing she can do about it. 

After being threatened by her boss, Jeff Olympia, she must sell her daughter's hand in marriage to Jeff's brother, the leader of an underground mafia... if she doesn't? She and her daughter would live in the worst conditions imaginable for the rest of their days.
