Aribella Rogers lived on the OBX until she was sixteen. For two years she was away, without keeping in full contact with her old friends. A couple months after leaving home, Aribella finds out her long term boyfriend, JJ Maybank, is cheating on her. Breaking up with JJ was hard, but it gave Aribella the opportunity to find out who she was with no ties to the OBX. She took time for herself, and she worked to get into a better mental state. After two years, Aribella family has been so financially lucky that they're able to move back to the OBX. Except this time, Aribella won't be a pogue, but a kook. Rafe Cameron has never dated anyone long term. To him, it was always his childhood best friend. When he was seventeen, she left and they lost contact after a few months. Rafe has never exactly been good to pogues, but for Aribella he'd do anything. When Rafe sees Aribella out on her balcony the day she moves back home, he doesn't hesitate for a second. Now that Rafe has Aribella back, he's not going to let her go. He's willing to protect her by any means necessary. It doesn't take long for Aribella and Rafe to reconnect again. The love they had then is stronger now. Even if Aribella still can't bring herself to admit her feelings. Rafe is patient with her and good to her, but he still has anger issues that only Aribella can soothe. Aribella still has an obsessive ex boyfriend who will resort to violence if he doesn't feel heard. Rafe and Aribella fight for their love as their friends protest and their hearts defy logic. But things may start to stand in their way as the pogues uncover secrets about the Cameron family. Will they be strong enough to stay together?
